Gilead Fire Rescue is always looking for new members both male and female to help in Fire, Rescue and EMS service for our community. If you are a team player, self motivated, eager to learn and want to help your community WE WANT YOU!  Email Secretary Kevin Lynch, stop at the station and talk to any firefighter, or call the station at 704-875-6266 for more information.

Requirements:

Firefighter: ( 18 years old or older)

• Must live in the Gilead Fire district or in a neighboring fire district.
• Must have a valid NC drivers license and clean driving history. (no serious misdemeanor or any felony convictions)
• Must present your Driving history from NC DMV
• Must present your criminal background from Mecklenburg County Courthouse. (no serious misdemeanor or any felony convictions)
• Must complete an application and submit it to the secretary
• Attend 3 monthly business meetings and be approved for probationary status by the board of directors.

Probation:

• If you are NFPA 1403 certified =12 months probation.
• If you are not 1403 certified =18 months probation.

All new members must be NFPA 1403 certified within 18 months of joining.

All members are required to complete the following:

• Monthly EMS con-ed (24 hrs annually for EMTs only)
• Attend monthly Training at the station (4th monday of each month)
  
• 36 hrs of training annually  (time includes monthly training)
• Attend Monthly business meetings (2nd monday of the month)
• Learn the proper use of all equipment on all apparatus
• Learn the response area.
• Continue to learn new skills and tactics.
  
• Participate in community activities and community service
