Structure Fire in Lincoln County
Tuesday, December 29, 2009

At 0413 hours, Gilead Fire was dispatched as mutual aid assist to Lincoln County to assist East Lincoln Fire Department, Denver Fire Department and Alexis Fire Department with a working structure fire in East Lincoln's  fire district.   Gilead Heavy Rescue 1 responded with 4 firefighters and assisted as a RIT team and also assisted with overhaul.  After clearing the fire, Gilead assisted East Lincoln with a motor vehicle accident on Highway 16 where a car had gone over an enbankment.  Gilead cleared Lincoln County at 0801 hours.


 
   
   
Beatties Ford Road MVA
Friday, December 18, 2009

At 1533 hours Gilead Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported 2 cars off the road.  Upon arrival, all patients were found out of the vehicles and had sustained no injuries.  Gilead cleared the scene at 1556 hours.


 
   
   
Highway 73 MVA
Tuesday, December 15, 2009

At 0630 hours, Gilead Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a 2 vehicle MVA at the entrance of the McGuire Nuclear plant.  Gilead assessed all patients and cleaned up the roadway.  Due to numerous accidents that morning, tow trucks were delayed, so a high-lift from McGuire assisted in moving the vehicles from the roadway.  Gilead units cleared the scene at 0720 hours.


 
   
   
Car Fire - Gilead Road

At 1159 hours, Gilead Fire was dispatched to a car fire on Gilead Road.  Upon arrival, a 1995 Mustang was found to have the engine compartment fully involved.  Gilead cleared the scene at 1237 hours.


 
   
   
Beatties Ford Road MVA
Monday, November 23, 2009 
-
Gilead Fire & Rescue was dispatched at 1416 hours to Beatties Ford Road in front of Hopewell High School for a reported SUV that was on its side.  Upon arrival, Engine 1 and Heavy Rescue 1 that the patients were out of the vehicle.  MEDIC arrived at the same time and handled patient care while Gilead handled spill control and scene cleanup.  All Gilead units cleared at 1456 hours.


 
   
   
Firefighers Burned Children's Fund Trailer

Gilead Fire & Rescue is proud to have a recycling trailer in our parking lot.  The trailer is part of the Firefighters Burned Children's Fund, Inc.  The Firefighters' Burned Children Fund, Inc. is dedicated to the support and recovery of burn patients and the prevention of burn injuries.  For more information, the web site is www.ffbcf.org.


 
Beatties Ford Road MVA

At 1920 hours, Long Creek Fire & Rescue and Gilead Rescue was dispatched to a reported overturned vehicle.  Upon arrival, Long Creek Engine 3 reported one vehicle on it's side with the driver out of the vehicle.  Long Creek Rescue 12 and Gilead Brush 7  arrived on scene and began patient care.  Medic transported the driver to the hospital and Gilead cleared the scene at 1944 hours.


 
   
   
MVA - Beatties Ford Road
Monday, October 12, 2009

At 1431 hours, Gilead Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported single vehicle accident, with the car in a ditch.  The accident happened just north of Hambright Road, with the car approximately 40 feet over a hillside.  One patient had self extricated and climbed to the top of the hill, while the second patient was still in the vehicle.  The second patient was put into spinal protocal, placed on a backboard and then into a stokes basket.  After securing the patient in the basket, the patient was then pulled up the hill and transported by Medic to the hospital.  All Gilead units cleared the scene at 1507 hours.


 
   
   
MVA - McIlwaine Road

At 1832 hours, Gilead was dispatched to a 2 vehicle MVA on McIlwaine Road, just off of Beatties Ford Road.  Upon arrival, a pickup truck was found to have hit an unoccupied SUV, pushing the SUV over 20 feet.  The SUV then proceeded to hit a parked conversion van.  No one was injured and Gilead cleared the scene at 1851 hours.


 
   
   
MVA - West Catawba Avenue
Saturday, October 3, 2009

At 0859 hours, Gilead was dispatched to a reported 2 vehicle MVA.  Upon arrival, two vehicles were found at the intersection of West Catawba Avenue and Sam Furr Road.  There were no injuries and fluids were controlled.  All units cleared at 0917 hours.


 
   
   
Truck off the Road - Beatties Ford Road at Highway 73

On the afternoon of August 6, 2009, Gilead Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a reported truck overturned at the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Highway 73.  Upon arrival, the tanker truck was found to be off the road, but upright.  Gilead stood by until the truck was safely back on the road.


 
   
   
Structure Fire on Glade Court
Monday, July 13, 2009

At 0630 hours, Huntersville Fire Department and Gilead Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a possible house fire.  While enroute, all units were notified that there was smoke and fire showing.  Upon arrival, Huntersville Ladder 1 confirmed a working fire.  Gilead Engine 1 arrived and secured a water supply.  The fire was knocked down and the house was overhauled by both Huntersville and Gilead members.  North Meck Rescue and Medic were also dispatched to the scene for medical standby.  The fire is under investigation by the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal.  Gilead units cleared the scene at 0738 hours.


 
   
   
MVA - Beatties Ford Road at McClure Road
Sunday, July 12, 2009

Gilead Fire and Rescue was dispatched on Sunday morning at 0530 hours to assist Long Creek Fire and Rescue with a single vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, the vehicle had struck a tree and was resting on the driver side.  Gilead assisted with stabilization and extrication of the driver.  The accident is under investigation by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.  All units cleared the scene at 0729 hours.


 
   
   
MVA - Beatties Ford Road at Neck Road
Sunday, July 5, 2009

At 11:55 hours, Gilead Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a vehicle that had run off of the road and into the brush.  Upon arrival, the driver had self extricated from the vehicle.  The vehicle had hit a fire hydrant, snapping it off at the base and traveled 120 feet off the road.  All Gilead units cleared the scene at 1319 hours.  This was one of 14 call that Gilead ran during the July 4th weekend.


 
   
   
Birkdale Village 4th of July
Saturday, July 4, 2009

July 4th turned out to be a sunny, beautiful day for the annual Birkdale Village celebration.  The day started off with a parade that included Gilead Fire & Rescue, Huntersville Fire Department and North Meck Rescue.  After the parade, the traditional water battle was held.  All participants were treated to a very wet, but good time.
